Editing reminder for Draft #2

Just a reminder of the things we asked for in your edit of your Research paper:

REMEMBER TO DO THESE STEPS THEN WRITE "I HAVE EDITED MY PAPER" AND SIGN YOUR NAME, AT THE TOP OF THE FIRST PAGE!!!!

Steps for editing:

CONTENT: Does your paper focus on your Hero and what they did?  Does it cover enough information to fully examine your Hero? Does it use facts correctly?

ORGANIZATION: Make an outline from your paper to see if you have organized it the way you like, and that it makes sense.

SMOOTH TRANSITION: Check to see if there are transitions between paragraphs, so your reader can follow your train of thought

CLARITY:  Have someone else read it out loud to you.  Are you sentences smooth, or choppy?  Does the reader get confused by long sentences? Are quotes and research smoothly integrated?

GRAMMAR:  Proof-read for grammar and spelling errors--if you are weak in this area, ask a parent to help you

AVOIDING PLAGARISM:  Be sure that all words that are not is quotes and are not cited are your own words.  If you use a quote that is more than 4 lines long, it is a "block quote" and each line should be indented, with the source cited.

CITATIONS:  Lets use MLA format--that means when you use a quote, or someone else's research in your paper, at the end of the last sentence it is used in cite the source (before the period) like this:

Sister Hardin and Sister Sampson are so awesome. Leading experts have shouted their praise over and over again (Carter 1). {meaning ( Author pg#)}
