Gettysburg Simulation

You and your young recruits are invited to:

The 2018 Sword of Freedom class Gettysburg Simulation!

Time:  9:30 am sharp (please be prepared to pick up survivors at 2:00 pm)
 (Please put together car pools as needed) 

Dress:  long pants, closed-toe shoes, outdoor wear including a jacket if needed, it WILL be wet so bring extra shoes and socks

Who is Invited:  All enlisted soldiers and officers; also family members of enlisted soldiers age 8 and up are invited (though not required) to "fight" - please make sure they have all necessary army supplies.

RSVP - Please reply to this message and let us know how many in your family will be attending; also, let us know if you will be able to stay and help chaperone or help as a hired cook; we need at least 6 other adults to stay.
 
What to Bring: 
·                                 Nerf guns - NO automatic guns, (can not require batteries for use). Some families do not have any Nerf guns; please bring extras to share (with your names on them).
·                                 Protective eye gear - seeing glasses or sun glasses work fine.
·                                 Nerf bullets (as many as you can find - EACH bullet with your last name on it). If you don't have any guns consider bringing a package of bullets. Note: several families will lose a small handful of nerf bullets to the woods.
-                Dry shoes and socks
·                                 Sun screen and bug spray
·                                 Hat or protective head covering
·                                 Sturdy back pack with blanket, plate, fork, cup, and water bottle (canteen), and salt and pepper
·                                 Union Soldiers - wear something BLUE (it can be as simple as a bandana)
·                                 Confederate Soldiers - wear something GRAY (it can be as simple as a bandana)
How to Prepare:
·                                 Study differences among infantry, artillery, and cavalry, units, also the definition of reconnaissance, and ammunition.

Feeding the Troops
For those who survive the battle there will be a battle-camp worthy meal to follow.  Please sign up through the email chain link, to bring any of the following items (recipes may be found online):
·                                 2 dozen hard tack crackers

·                                 2 gallons Hot Chocolate in cooler (already hot) -

·                                 2 pounds of plain, boiled white navy beans
·                                 2 pounds of plain, boiled white navy beans
·                                 2 pounds of plain, boiled white navy  beans
·                                 10 pounds cubed, boiled potatoes
                  10 pounds cubed, boiled potatoes
                  10 pounds cubed, boiled potatoes
·                                 1 pound bacon or salt pork (already cooked) 
·                                 1 pound bacon or salt pork (already cooked)
·                                 1 pound bacon or salt pork (already cooked)
